This collaboration between KNITWEAR LAB, Studio SKARV, and VanMoof is a shared expression of local production, thoughtful design, and long-lasting quality. Rooted in Amsterdam, the project brings together a mutual appreciation for bold colour, functional aesthetics, and products that are built with intention rather than trends.

Keeping the production process as local as possible was a key driver from the start. With KNITWEAR LAB located close to Amsterdam, the collaboration naturally evolved through hands-on development, experimentation, and a shared obsession with material and colour quality. The result is knitwear that not only looks good but stays beautiful year after year. Scarves designed to be worn, lived in, and still loved seasons later.

The creative process began with testing different knit samples, exploring fine knits before gradually moving toward thicker structures. Colour played a central role throughout the development. Studio SKARV’s love for bright, poppy tones found its match in KNITWEAR LAB’s extensive yarn stock, inspiring vibrant combinations brought to life through jacquard knitting. This technique allows for rich colour play and precise patterns, giving each scarf depth, character, and clarity of design.

Material choice was equally intentional. The collection is made from 100% merino wool, selected for its softness, durability, and natural performance. By working with a single material, the scarves are not only designed to last a lifetime, but also support recycling and sustainability goals through mono-material construction. Warm, soft, and breathable, merino wool makes each piece suitable for everyday wear, no matter the pace of city life.

A highlight of the collaboration is the limited-edition VanMoof Electric Blue colourway. Designed for winter movement, this scarf connects premium merino craftsmanship with modern mobility. City-ready softness meets purposeful design, inspired by motion, simplicity, and the daily flow of moving through Amsterdam. Whether cycling through cold mornings or navigating urban streets, the scarf is made to move with you while adding colour to winter days.

This collaboration reflects what happens when experimentation, openness, and shared values come together. A process built on trust, creativity, and a willingness to explore new ideas in knitwear, resulting in products that are expressive, functional, and made to last.
