We offer a 5-day course about Industrial Knitting, designed to learn programming and industrial knitting through a hands-on, practice-based approach, working directly with techniques used in professional knitwear production. This course allows you to explore the endless possibilities of sustainable knitwear innovation, while building a strong foundation in industrial knitting and knitwear product development.

THE COURSE

Learn all you need to know about designing, programming and manufacturing industrial knitwear. In our 5-DAY Course you will be introduced to the Create Plus software and work with STOLL ADF and 530HP knitting machines at our KNITWEAR LAB in Almere (20 min from Amsterdam). During the course you’ll grow into a better knitwear designer, manager, or teacher. You learn how to communicate in depth with your knitwear suppliers, designers, technicians or students.

The program is mostly practice oriented. Apart from the essential theory, a large part of the curriculum is dedicated to learning the basics of programming, operating the latest Stoll machines, designing, and knitting your own swatches and learning about the yarns and the knitting industry.

5-DAY BASIC COURSE

Dive into the world of industrial knitting with our 5-DAY hands-on Course! Whether you’re new to machine knitting or looking to build a strong foundation, this course will equip you with the essential skills to bring your designs to life.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Introduction to the machines – Getting to know the technology behind industrial knitting and the setup of the lab.

 

  • Designing in stitches – Translating ideas into stitch patterns and understanding structure, density, and texture.

 

  • Create Plus software – Basics of digital knitting design, working with different modules, and exploring color arrangements for creative possibilities.

 

  • Operating the machines – Setting up, running, and monitoring the STOLL machines, plus basic troubleshooting during knitting.

 

  • Fiber, yarn & sustainability – Understanding different fibers and yarn types, gauge and count, and how material choices impact performance and sustainability.

 

  • Adobe for knitters – Get a sneak peek into creating graphics and implementing your knit designs in Adobe for programming your knit jacquards.

 

  • Communicating with your knitter – Learning the right technical language, so you can clearly brief factories and knitting partners.

COURSE TEACHERS

KNITWEAR LAB has become an important player in the world of design and industrial knitwear. For many years, we’ve been developing innovative, sustainable, and design-driven knitwear solutions for brands and companies across various industries (apparel, footwear, medical, and technical textiles, among others).

Our team of experienced programmers and designers, as course teachers, will guide you through programming and manufacturing industrial knitwear. They will teach you how to use the Create Plus software and introduce you to the STOLL knitting machines.

The fee includes:

  • The KL Course Book covering programming theory.
  • All material costs – you will build a small personal swatch library using our selected course stock yarns.
